Okay, AMV Minis contributors! Here's your chance to explain/defend/critique your entries to AMV Minis! You may want to take the critiques from here (http://amvhell.com/showthread.php?t=1650) into consideration before posting anything. Discuss what the in-joke is, why you think it's funny (or entertaining in some other way). Also discuss what you would have done differently if you had the chance. It can be anything from a different choice of material, a better joke, better lip-sync, etc.

Remember, there's always room for improvement.

1) Gendo:

This one I made around Christmas and it was one of my first ones I ever made (Made the same night as "Heman"). The lip syncing is good (Except for "NO, I am your father"), but it has lost its charm. I figured it would be good for a giggle because it is similar to Shinji and Gendo's relationship in the show.

2) Weasel:

This one was made in boredom, everyone I showed seemed to like it. Yes the editing could use some work, but it is decent in my opinion.

3) Kitchen

This one I made in less than 10 minutes. Frankly I didn't think it would be accepted as it appears to be sexist. I don't like that "tst" noise when it changes audio tracks.

Azumanga/Arugument:
Quick! How many continuity errors can you find in this clip? XD This one turned out surprisingly well, I think. When I listened to the Argument sketch I felt this particular section reflected Yukari's passive-aggressive nature very well. Again, still unsure about the lip-sync. Considering how stylized mouth movements are in anime to begin with, I thought I could get away with what I have here. Feel free to disagree if you wish.

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya / George Carlin
This was one of the first clips I ever edited together in an AMV Hell Style. I think the core idea is solid but the execution was a little lacking. I just found the parallels of Haruhi and George Carlin's rant on religion to be rather striking. I think some of my scene choices were a little off, particularly during the "fire, and smoke and burning and torture" could have been strung together a little better. On watching it now it kinda looks like Haruhi is trying to recruit everyone into some kinda cult, which is also funny in its own way.

Also to anyone who was offended by George Carlin's rant no offense was intended.

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni / She drives me crazy by Fine Young Canibals
I have no excuses on this one. This was part of an AMV that I never finished and abandoned. While the AMV never worked out I thought that particular clip was good enough to stand on its own. The lip-syching is off, very badly in some areas, but i think it gets the idea across anyway. In retrospect maybe I should have had the cast yelling about Hanyu (see Higurashi Season 2, for those unfamiliar with the character). That might have fit the lyrics a little better.

I've already mentioned this in the Critique section, but I thought I'd include it here, too.

I think you're right on the money, kappa. While I myself wasn't quite as shocked (I'm rather used to George Carlin's rants), I do agree with you that the audio couldn't have suited Haruhi better.

Even so, I think it could have been a stronger clip. For example, I think Carlin's description of Hell as a place where you'll "choke and scream and cry" warranted scenes of poor Miruku suffering at the hands of the "cruel and callous goddess" as well as the scenes of chaos and Yuko being impaled. Additionally, the punchline need more... well, punch, I think. I know it would be hard to hard, but if the last shot featured an even more seemingly loving and gentle Haruhi, I think it would have made her bi-polar nature that much stronger and even more hilarious.

As for the Higurashi clip, I think once you have the lip-sync down, you're in business. I especially liked the maniacal laughter at "I can't help myself."
