that is a very good question and one can only hope, all we can do is wait and see what happens over time. hopefully some other info will be released

I'm sure all of Bandai's wards will get (quickly) picked up by other companies, with big names like Gundam and Gainax titles, I doubt other companies will just ignore the opportunity to turn a disaster into profit, which in this case will aid us in getting those titles published.

I was planning on buying Gundam AGE(if it ever got picked), the rest of the Gurren Lagann manga, and some more of the Code Geass manga, but I guess I'll have hurry and buy all of the latter and hope for an English release of the two former.

Sounds like they are switching from a distribution company to a licensing company. Basically this means they will sell the distribution rights of their products to another company to distribute as DVDs, blu-ray's, and any other form they choose. This could actually be a good thing as Bandai will have less of a financial burden in bringing anime and manga to the states.

Now they have to find someone who is willing to distribute this dying media. The N.A market has shrunk considerably since the death of toonami and with all the slice of life and harem shows coming out now I don't see it very safe to distribute. If I had a DVD distribution company I would abandon ship. It also looks like the best series out these days never really get past 26 episodes, I don't think N.A TV stations want those, I think they want series with more longevity. But hey that isn't always the case, look at cowboy bebop.

I thought that Region 1 DVDs didn't work on UK DVD Players.

they don't but there are several multi region dvd players on amazon that play everything.

You can also set PC's to multi region and then burn your own region friendly disk.

i was rereading the info in the posts and from what i understand is there actually shutting down but they will no longer be publishing in north america.
so it looks like you guys and gals that live in the states will have to start importing from the u.k.

There are three additional options of varying risk and difficulty:
1. Australia (Of course, that's debatable)
2. Overpriced Japanese DVDs that you can only hope will have English Subtitles (Yes, some do, depending on how popular the series is)
2. Torrents (Watch out for the feds, though)

if you order from australia you have to remember it's region 4.
manga can be awkward somrtimes there different.
my mate got an american version of a manga but it finished at a different point to the english version
he had v1 v2 and v4 so needed v3 when he read it he noticed that he was missing a chapter.
it would have been in v3 of the english version but it is in v4 of the american version.
i hope that made sense

Was it Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, Bobobo, or something completely different? Something similar happened to me once.

I know Berserk has a "Lost Chapter" that got ret-cond because Muira felt it explained too much of the plot to early.

the american volume 3 ended on chapter 19 and the english volume 4 started on chapter 21.
