Hey don't look at me the Iranians started it.

Normally I make my own sandwiches with whatever I have available that's edible and tastes properly when compiled into a sandwich.

But there are just things you can't realy replace...

Well fortunately, we have a professional cook here...me! (really).
I'll share some recipes...

"the Bavarian"

Garlic Bologna
Hard Salami
Swiss or Muenster Cheese
Sauerkraut
Mustard
A nice big Kaiser Roll

Preparation:
Cook sauerkraut in a large skillet over medium heat (don't burn it)
Stack 2 slices of bologna and 2 slices salami (per sandwich) on top of kraut and cover.
Simmer until meat begins to 'sweat'
Place meat on bottom of roll, add 1 or 2 slices of cheese on top of meat.
Put a dollop of drained kraut on top of cheese. Mustard on top of that.
Then crown with top of kaiser roll. (do not put mustard on the kaiser roll crown. put it on the kraut)
Wash it down with a wheat beer.

Here's another pro tip:

There are countless variations of meat, cheese and vegetables you can put together
when building a club sandwich. Always toast your center bread slightly longer than your
outer bread slices. Outer bread should always be lightly toasted so that it has the
texture of toasted bun. Inner bread should be toasted to be crunchy, but not so much that
it crumbles when you bite into it. You should be able to cut your club into quarters without it
breaking apart.
A club sandwich must always always always have bacon on it.

The sauce is very important: There are basically 3 types, garlic, yoghurt sauce with herbs and tomato (ketchup), but other kinds may e used too.

My favourite is: one side of the breat gets some ketchup, the other gets some garlic sauce and finally some garlic sauce topped on the meat (which is calf meat or chicken, never pork).
But some times you can't go with garlic, maybe because you have a dentist apointment or you are going to meet a girl which might lead into kissing ... thats when you substitude the garlic sauce with yoghurt sauce.

I am a man of simple sandwiches. I like a reuben. I like turkey on wheat with nothing but lettuce and mayonnaise. I like a PB&J. I don't need any fancy peppers, onions, three different types of sauces and condiments... just gimme some bread, slap some meat on it, spice it up with some mayonnaise, and I'm happy.

Now, hamburgers though... that's where I get a little picky. Not about what's on it, but where it's made. For instance- If I'm feeling like something greasy and just nastily delicious, I'll get a burger at Wendy's. McD's and BK have their "high-end" burgers angus or whatever, sure, and they're alright. but really, if I'm going to get a greasy fast-food burger, it's Wendy's for me. BUT, if I want a real burger, with taste? There's a food court burger place in the Dulles Town Center in northern virginia called Flamers. Despite sounding like a gay bar, Flamers makes the most delicious burgers ever, to me. They cook them on a grill that shoots flame 3 feet high right in front of you. Big patties too. all the condiments you could want, though of course I just stick to lettuce and mayonnaise. omg. so good. Also helps that they serve the good size kind of fries, not the wet little sticks you get at other fast food joints. I guess that's just my dream burger, really- the cookout-style burger. Not those restaurant-style giant buns and giant patty monstrosities that you can't even fit in your mouth properly, more like eating a steak between bread. If I want steak, I'll order steak. I want a burger. a little greasy patty that smells like summer cookouts and tastes like the fourth of july.

anyway, back to non-burger sandwiches- I love Quiznos and... I think it's called Firehouse Subs? Something like that. That franchise makes some mean sandwiches.

Well before this thread fades away into obscurity, I thought that I would give it one good bump

Here's some pro tips on making the perfect BBQ pulled pork sandwich.

1. Get nice big big soft kaiser rolls, "Fish" bun, or a nice large Croissant...that's all I have to say about the bread.

2A. You must completely roast your pork first
TIP: Add 1Tbs white vinegar per pound of roast to your roast water.
You may wrap your roast with plastic wrap before roasting.
2B. After you roast your roast, you must completely cool it down (i.e. refrigerate over night)
If you wrapped your roast, leave it wrapped.

3. Making it pulled pork.
3A.Load a slow cooker (i.e. croc pot) with your BBQ sauce of choice and turn it on.
3B.Prepare to simmer a large no-stick or well seasoned skillet with a light coating of veg oil (not butter nor margarine)
3C. Begin by breaking off chunks of roast and place in pre-heated pan. It's ok if the pieces are large, they will break down as you cook them.
TIP: Only put about 1/3 of pan's worth of meat at a time. You will need the space.
3D. Add your starting sauce* to about 1/3" deep in your pan. Cover and simmer for about 10 min or until pork is
completely warmed and begins to break apart. Drain off any excess starting sauce and return to heat. Now you're ready to cook!

4. BBQ in layers!
Your roast should be chunky, juicy and lightly caramelized at this point.
4A. Add a small amount of water and a small amount of BBQ sauce to roast.
Stir, toss, stir, toss until meat is completely cover in sauce. Simmer until sauce begins to bubble and reduce.
4B. Sauce is reduced, and sizzling. add another small amount of water and small amount of BBQ sauce
and repeat 4A.
4C. Repeat
4D. Repeat
As you cook, pork will break down into smaller, stringy yet tender chunks. Pour contents of pan into croc pot and hold
on low until served.
NOTE: You must start with a clean skillet for each batch that you do.
5: Serve your sandwich with a side of sweet relish.

*Starting Sauce- Simple yet Important.
This is the first layer of BBQ-ing that you do and is the only time you use this sauce.
1 Cup boiling water
1 tsp lemon juice
2 TBs BBQ sauce
1/2 TBs Grape jelly.

Start with boiling water and dissolve jelly into it.
add BBQ sauce and stir or whisk until mixed
stir or whisk in lemon juice.
Optional Items
1/4 cup chopped garlic
1/4 cup finely diced onions

That is the basic recipe, however it is cutomizable. Some things that you may add. Cayenne pepper, RedHot, shredded coconut (use lime juice instead of lemon)
Cajun or black fish seasoning (also lime juice), Crushed red pepper, Montreal Chicken seasoning, Old Bay, or mustard.
Just remember that your starting sauce needs to be very liquid so don't add very much if you're using a non-liquid additive (i.e. Old Bay)
