(what i disliked about the madoka ending wasn't that it wasn't as happy as it could have been, but it felt cheap. like everything we saw happen in the show didn't matter. they may as well have told us that it was all just a dream. mami being eaten? didn't happen. sayaka going nuts? didn't happen. kyouko and sayaka killing each other? didn't happen. nothing that we saw made any difference to the ending. (kind of like the filler in naruto. it's there, but it doesn't matter.) madoka didn't change anything, either. entropy is still eroding the universe, the witch curses are still affecting humans, (though controlled by different masters), and worst of all, they killed sayaka barely offscreen. that was kind of a kick to the teeth. the battle is ongoing, so the show is entirely inconclusive. the only thing different is now walpurgisnacht no longer exists to destroy the city/world. instead it's a bunch of demons to destroy the city/world. it did get a bit less angsty now that they're not fighting the negative emotions of each other, but they still have to fight, and they will likely die fighting as sayaka did. as far as looking back on those lost, goes, that may apply to sayaka, but only one person even knows meduka existed. (not counting the brother). the show was good up until the first line of the final episode. after that, the show went from my top 10 favorite anime straight into my top 20 worst endings.
it was almost as bad as the ending to soul eater... not quite, but almost...

gundam 0079 is my second favorite gundam after turn a gundam. (gundam seed hd is in 3rd place for best visuals and great plot (even if it is just a bunch of previous gundams rehashed into one series, it was still epic as hell. music was great too, especially "justice and freedom" and "Tachiagare! Okori yo". and i liked flay.)
