AMV Minis Challenge #16: AMVines

2013 was the year of the Vine--short, 6 second long video clips. Who would have thought that they would explode in popularity, and people would be able to cram so much entertainment into such short clips? The challenge this time is to make your own 6 second AMV version of the vine... using audio from a real vine.
You can find a ton of vines by simply searching on YouTube for "vine compilation" or something similar.
Since the clips for this challenge will be so short, competitors will be allowed three entries.

Also, this challenge will be running for 5 weeks, as I will be taking a week off during the beginning of February.

A lot of vines just contain audio from songs. Doesn't that mean people could pretty much just use any audio they want by just finding a vine that uses it?
Unless a restriction is placed to original audio vines.

This. I was just about to say that 5sf has done the "Vine" thing for years now and quite frankly it is of much higher quality. Not only in originality but also in audio/video.
But anyways I'm still curious to see how this will turn out.

Also just to clarify it is 3 submissions per person and not up to 3 submissions per person.

Does the WHOLE video have to be done in 6 seconds, or can we use a few seconds of something else in addition to the vine in order to set up/complete the joke? The one I have in mind would still have the audio of the vine as at least 50% of the total submission.

Yes, the whole thing should be 6 seconds (technically 6.5 seconds).

i'm having problems with Dropbox, apparently when i went to sign up, it showed me a 3-way plan, i choosed free, then the website crashes, i had an app downloaded and tried to install drop box, it caused my computer to crash, is there an alternative storage website to dropbox that is acceptable for uploading our submission videos, like say Google Drive, mega, or icloud? any suggestion guys?

Dropbox has been having some issues at least since last night, as I found out with my Call of Cthulhu group. I'd say just give it some time for them to get it worked out, probably check back later tonight.

alright, this round is now closed!

Only about 20 entries total, which is pretty sorry, considering people were allowed up to 3. But I really enjoyed some of these.

I tried, but I strongly dislike vines. Now my recommendation list is filled with nothing but girls doing ass dances. Which represents about 30% of successful vine videos and is the thumbnail to every compilation.

I tried, but the vast majority of the ones I saw were far too hard to replicate directly. I'm sticking with the love challenge instead

Yeah, I really did not see anything that would have made for a worthwhile joke without adding time for a set up and/or a punch line. This is the first extended exposure to vines, but I do have to agree with LawRayLiet that I am not a fan of the format. I realize some people may be able to get their jollies in 6 seconds or less, but I need a bit more time before I can truly say I'm enjoying myself.

And let's see.. 20 videos at 6 seconds, plus the transitioning times and the opening and closing credits, and I think we're looking at about three minutes of video, maybe three and a half.

I wouldn't say that is true. The dark humor challenge had more entries than the beat box challenge, the Secret Santa challenge had less entries than the 2013 challenge, etc. It also seems like there is a lot of interest in the Concept of Love challenge, which I am guessing will get a lot more entries than this one. I submitted 1 entry for this one just so I can say I tried...

Oh come on, love isn't that hard to make jokes about beyond "I don't have anyone". Besides, physical love is still a type of love, and I KNOW everyone can make jokes on that. If not, just check the chatbox archives for when Haar is in; as far as I can tell, like 90% of the time he basically just a living gay joke.
