The Title Says all... What do You Think? I completely dont understand this anime xD There is so much which is confusing me :mad:

I couldn't make it past ep. 8, I think it was. The pacing was just absolutely horrendous, and the story wasn't exactly worth the wait.

I marathoned the series up to ep19 were the pacing killed me completely about 8 episodes going "What up with this female titan!?" and it just went on and on and on. It really started to feel as if the story was repeating itself with questions and peoples despair.

Aswell as people who have been thrown into fighting titans again and again alot of them still go "OH NO AM SCARED!" and if they arnt doing that they look to their left to see someone going "OH NO AM SCARED!" which in leads them to go "I am scared!" gets grating after a while.

If it helps, the anime's English title is "Attack on Titan" I notice that name being used a LOT more often than "Shingeki No Kyojin"

it is no masterpiece but i find it entertaining and fun to watch. i find it more of a comedy than a grimdark though.

From what I've seen so far (through season 1), it's definitely not anything groundbreaking or revolutionary. However, it's definitely not bad either. I think it's good, worth a watch, but it doesn't live up to the massive amounts of hype that it's getting. In fairness, I don't think there's much of anything that could live up to that kind of hype.

AoT is far from a savior of anime. Everything it does, Shin Sekai Yori did it better. It's not the worst anime I've seen (that still goes to KissXSis) but it's damn far from being anything good.

I don't care for the anime very much, since I read the manga literally a month before the anime started, saw that it followed it pretty exact and couldn't be bothered to watch it. I do however love the other AOT manga which not many people read, Shingeki no Kyojin: Before the Fall, which for me has a much better plot, characters and art. Especially with how it is set before the invention of the weapons to kill Titans with and will eventually show how they are made etc Also with how a pregnant woman is half eaten by a Titan, but it is killed and the baby is born but is then locked away, brandished as a 'Titan's Child' and he eventually becomes a pretty awesome character who is much more developed than Eren

I never meant it is good, I meant by the utter lack of fanservice and the huge popularity anime may just investing time and money in tits and ass to sell and seeing AoT and go "oh wow....people....people likes stories.....and good animation without titties flopping around....maybe...maybe we can get money that way too?!"

It HAS to be popular or else it is not the mainstream. Mainstream anime is tits and ass, back alley anime is less despite hentai being on the same street!
Popularity is the only thing that changes trends in the industry and I beg for them to copy AoT even if its already terrible so that it may be better in future.

There is a scene were a guy punches a man THROUGH the head....and he continues to talk...ok sure...anime...after a bit...THE GUYS HAND IS NO LONGER THROUGH HIS HEAD BUT ONTOP! Terrible animation, lack of continuity and just terrible story....at the end of one of the episodes you watch a guy float away with a little girl.....AND GIANT BLUE WHALE! FLYING! BECAUSE PSYCHICS!

I have a love/hate relationship with Shingeki.

On one hand I like the premise, the political intrigue, gorgeous animation for the anime, awesome music, and REALLY like some of the characters.

On the other hand, it has **** for pacing, horrendous art in the Manga, the Mangaka unable to do a reveal to save his life (literally, the colossal and armor titans identities were revealed in a tiny panel out of nowhere with no context leading most readers to go back a few pages to see if they missed something) kill off characters indiscriminately and in a way there is no lasting impact and often JUST for shock value. And to contrast the good interesting characters, we have bland main lead Eren, fujoshi bait Levi, one dimensional villains, and continued lack of world building. The interesting characters are constantly under-utilized in favor of Eren's manchild rage and Levi existing solely to sell Yaoi doujins. We are constantly denied any worthwhile reveal of more of the world or secrets. Plot Points and elements that SEEM good, like Eren being a faux-protagonist, constantly get avoided in favor of bull**** like Eren instead being a petty Shonen Powerup out of nowhere making him special and giving him plot armor and constantly bogging down the more interesting characters such as Mikasa or Jean. Many of the interesting character dynamics have been done before, especially with Eren-Mikasa-Armins Ideal-Body-Mind embodiment thing going on albiet the story does not capitalize on how to properly use the character dynamic it presents. Eren 'dying' in the first arc would have been a good way to throw a wrench into this dynamic and forcing Mikasa to develop more as a person now that her emotional crutch and support is gone and the ramifications of what goes on, leading to a potentially much more compelling story than another 'grimdark shonen with powerup spamming protag' story. Mikasa is pretty much a poor man's Guts (Berserk), albiet genderbent and has many of the same character flaws he does, but does not have the proper story or character development to really reach her full potential.

I view Shingeki as a better Elfen Lied.... albiet with some of the same problems. In that it had a very compelling premise and a few potentially good characters that constantly is underutilized and bogged down by grimdark violence, pointless death, Urobuchi-tier stupid decision after stupid decision and not utilizing what good elements it does have present.

To make an analogy, its pretty much a Pizza, you like, but done by a chef who undercooked it. The ingredients and recipe is good and solid, but the chef who made the Pizza is too incompetent to properly utilize it. Which is Shingeki no Kyojin in a nuttshell, I really like Pizza, but this one needs to be cooked better.

why did they make 3 walls for different classes of people?
