Alright, its time for something a little different.
It's time for a full-on AMV contest, with prizes!


Rules:
1. Each person may enter 1 video into the contest, and the video content must be at least 50 seconds in length. The video should be of the comedy genre.
2. The video may not have premiered online or at any other contest or convention prior to Jan 1, 2015.
3. It must be a single standalone AMV as opposed to multiple mini-videos joined together. This contest is NOT for videos of the "amv hell genre".
4. The video must contain animated source material. Any kind of animation is fine, it does not explicitly have to be Japanese.
5. The only forbidden content is hentai/porn. There are no restrictions on lyrical or audio content.
6. The deadline to submit entries is April 1, 2015.

Prizes:
There will be 2 winners. My selection, and viewer selection (via poll on this website). The same video can not win both.
Each winner will receive a certificate of accomplishment, and a $20 Amazon gift certificate.
If anyone would like to sponsor additional prizes, please contact me.

Entering:
You need to upload your video to either dropbox or google drive, and then send me a link by filling out this entry form (http://www.amvhell.com/forms.php?do=form&fid=18) to submit your video.
Videos should be in the MP4 format. HD video is preferred if your source material is available in HD. Video quality does matter in judging the winners, so please be sure that your video looks as good as possible.

Once all of the entries have been collected, I will probably make them available for voting purposes via bittorrent, and also a compilation on vimeo. There will also be a forum thread where you can post a streaming link to your own video.

I just need some clarity on judgment, I do plan to enter (more so win for once lols) yet depending on how the judging exactly works it will heavily influence what I do make as I am trying to win this time, before in a challenge it was just see if people liked the clip.

If it is exactly the same as AMV minis challenge as in its Youtube level of an audience then **** I need to bust out whatever is popular and mash that together make it look competent and pander like ****. Or wise if its more local as in just the forums here then in a lot of cases such pandering will be ripped to shreds even if its AMV Hell pandering and done excellently would probably a sure fire way to lose around here.

So I am needing to know who is the audience/judges, preferably I would love a more closed group of judges with at least a perceived image of more refinement on AMV's and comedy with would really mean I could be the most creative. However I do not think any interpretation of what you have said Zarx could be taken as that and you have already set in stone a more public method of judgment.

Unless I come up with an original idea that reflects my wishes and it is pulled off into an extremely funny clip with the way I do clips, then I do not feel confident in winning with how I usually do clips or even humour for that matter even in this longer format, I feel more confident if its more local judgment and that allows for a better feeling the best clip does win.

IC's= Iron Chefs, when you are given a set song/list of songs and sometimes animes too and you have to edit with them in a set period of time (anywhere from a few days to a few hours). And an AMV Studio is a group of AMV editors who regularly chat online etc and make Multi Editor Projects together

I was waiting for my new computer to arrive and be set up before I really got into anything. Not that I couldn't work on it before, but let's face it, it's a LOT easier to edit clips with 16 gigs of RAM rather than 4, and trying to move projects in process from one machine to another, while possible, is a bit of an annoyance. I've had to do some tweaking on the set up, but for the most part I believe I've got it set now, so I can start chipping away. Or clipping away as the case may be.

I keep breaking programs and not having ideas, so instead I hand in my resignation Zarx I am gonna work elsewhere! PS I am trying to get a job/go to college....but....I might not go to college again cos funding cos I already went to college and hold an HNC in Media and Communications which means I am too smart and cannot be educated again...but I need to be retrain to get a job. HNC is just before a Bachelors Award which in UK still means I am apparently considered a PostGraduate....I failed my BA since I thought I had failed my HNC as people kept threatening more work for me redo for HNC. Turns out I passed it...I found that out two months ago....SEVEN YEARS AFTER PASSING!!

Oh also my fathers somthing cancer somthing major surgery somthing caring for him somthing....

So you know......bit ****ed..... here Zarx have an old entry of mines, I know I know....it runs over the time limit a bit but you can make it slide. The sound quality is a not good and these edits are some of the hardest edits I have done, makes look sloppy....sorry but tis all I can do.

Don't forget you can edit audio too. My original audio track is over 5 minutes long. My working audio is just shy of 1:20.

Oh my dad already had people reenact the Thing Doctor scene on him and cut out all the cancer which wasn't much, it was only because the growth was poking into a duct that leads to the liver which stopped the liver from working and he got yellow Jaundice. So they opened up his gut and cut it out, he was in hospital a week, been home for three weeks nows and this scar healed up except for one area that was always wide that gonna take a while longer still looking good. Overall everythings went 99% perfect.....just him being 58 and only one leg has been the harder part in all this lols. He is pretty much back to his old self now as he is hopping around (that is how he gets around the house) puts his tin leg on when he dosnt feel up to it. Getting there but I still need to be on call and help/get stuff when he needs it.

You can always just cut out the audio you don't want and combine the remaining fairly seamlessly, if you do it right. You only need a few good parts to make a well lengthened amv.

Think about this way: if you push it as far as 12 hours, why not 12 hours 1 minute? and if you do 12 hours 1 minute, why not 13 hours? why not 14? why not a whole day after? a week? a month? a year?

Deadlines are there for a reason. If you give users even a little leniency, then they'll ask for more. And more. And more. And more. And more. And more. And more. And more. And more. And more. And more. And more. And more.....

Better to just be strict about it from the very beginning than try to calm the tide of "but you gave him 5 extra hours! Why can't I have 10?!"

And an entry into this requires considerable more effort then that. But if now he chooses to be stern and absolute, so be it.

It's not about "desperation" or "pools of interest". But, if someone outside the circle actually put effort into making something for this thing, I'd just feel bad it was a waste.
It's just odd to see a sudden turn to being so rigid, when it hasn't been that way in my memory, especially so with the low turnout.

Other contests exist. And as (s)he already asked about, (s)he can post the video for us to enjoy regardless. Just because (s)he didn't get to submit it where they wanted to, doesn't mean the video should be pointlessly thrown away.
