It's time for yet another contest, in addition to the Comedy AMV Contest (http://www.amvhell.com/showthread.php?29057)!
This time, we are going back to classic AMV Hell style. You get to make your very own compilation of multiple short clips. It's like your very own AMV Hell!

Rules:
1. Each contestant may enter 1 video compilation (made up of several mini-videos) into the contest, and the total video content must be at least 50 seconds in length and contain AT LEAST 3 clips.
2. Up to 3 contestants may team up to make a single compilation. One person may not be a part of multiple groups.
3. None of the clips contained in the compilation may have appeared as a part of any other compilation prior to Jan 1, 2015. You are free to send your videos to other projects or contests that take place in 2015.
4. The video must primarily contain animated source material. Any kind of animation is fine, it does not explicitly have to be Japanese. Live action content is fine in small doses, but should not be the focus of the compilation.
5. The only forbidden content is hentai/porn. There are no restrictions on lyrical or audio content.
6. You should NOT explicitly give your project a name that implies that it may be an official AMV Hell video, such as "AMV Hell: _______".
7. The deadline to submit entries is August 1, 2015.

Winners:
There will be 2 winners. My selection, and viewer selection (via poll on this website). The same video can not win both.
There are no prizes for this contest, other than bragging rights.

Entering:
You need to upload your video to either dropbox or google drive, and then send me a link by filling out this entry form (http://www.amvhell.com/forms.php?do=form&fid=18) to submit your video.
Videos should be in the MP4 format. HD video is preferred. Video quality does matter in judging the winners, so please be sure that your video looks as good as possible.
You also want to make sure your video is well-rounded. One great clip isn't so great if its surrounded by crap. Be selective with what you include.

Once all of the entries have been collected, I will probably make them available for voting purposes via bittorrent. There will also be a forum thread where you can post a streaming link to your own video.

There’s certainly nothing wrong with having no theme, it’s just... generic.
Having a theme or concept of some sort holding your collection together just might make it stand out a little better, or make it more memorable and identifiable, if nothing else.

I'm interested. I suffered through a very crappy computer to produce 4 or so clips for Divided by 0 (all of which, miraculously, were included in the final project), but I haven't done anything for AMV Hell since (or any AMV for that matter). I've been wanting to do more work, but never found the time. Lately I've been thinking about doing my own AMV Hell style video and I have a new computer now, so yeah, this could work. It'd be really nice to not have my entire AMV legacy consist of porn.

So technical question: you've stated a minimum length and clip count, but is there no maximum? I mean, I don't expect to break the 20 minute mark or anything unless I really get into a groove, but I figured I'd ask just in case.

Heh, challenge 32 was uploaded on the 10th January, so you wouldn’t be breaking the letter of the rule as much as the spirit of it.
I guess it depends how “redone” the clip will be exactly. I’m curious to see how you would improve the entry; perhaps you’ll try adding something resembling a joke next time?

Too bad I already did a mini clip show for AMV Hell Challenge 1.In hindsight all my submissions would have been better for other challenges that came later.

Regardless of all of that, I was still way more active back then, was I not? And yes, while your critiques are definitely useful, you generally just say something like "No, that's dumb," which does not constitute a critique. I mean, my specific advice is useful to new editors, but it's not like I don't spend half of my time posting that "Salutations, it seems you need some help" copy paste. Regarding the Madhouse project, it was a group effort that I wasn't even the main editor for, so I'm not entirely to blame for it. The trailer thing, on the other hand.... well, at least you got to use the Redline one for that other contest. Anyway, it's not so much that I like yes men so much as I dislike working with people that give me instructions I'm too lazy to follow. You know how you'll sometimes choose to drink a Sierra Mist even though it's mediocre just because your only other option is Diet Pepsi? Yeah, it's like that.

Youtube is not an option, because I am fairly positive that some of the videos would get taken down, so that creates an unfair situation when all the videos aren't available.

Recapitulating, if you plastered them clips together, then they're yours. If you had a buddy who also plastered them Chinese cartoons, then he's also a clip creator. Limit's 3 clip creators.

I don't think so. It would add some complexity and I'm not sure what benefit there would be, other than maybe for people who just don't want to watch all the entries and want to skip the first round of voting.

well technically if you space the voting rounds apart enough, it would make it a bit easier to watch them all as we'd only need to watch a few at a time. This would also make the voting last a LOT longer, though. Especially if you actually space things out enough to validate multiple rounds in the first place.

I personally feel we should just stick to the ONE round, maybe with a somewhat longer voting period so we still don't have to watch everything all in one sitting. Then again maybe enough of compilations are **** that we'll end up blasting through them all anyway....

After some consideration while I was at work today, I have decided to do a 2 phase voting process.
Phase one will last 2 weeks, and you can vote for as many of the entries as you want.
Then, it will move to phase two, where you will have one week to choose among the 4 highest ranking entries.
