I really like lots of older comedies. Dragon Half is hysterical (only two episodes, though) and I love Tsukikage Ran and all the Slayers family. Ranma 1/2 can be a lot of fun, too. (In beween the slightly repetitive romance storyline are zany things like no-holds-barred martial-arts ramen delivery races. And the most ludicrous characters take themselves SO seriously! Kuno and Ryoga crack me up every time.) Hyper Police is pretty funny so far. Nuku Nuku is another one I found funny enough for a rewatch some day. (If I was CEO of an appliance company, I would SOOOO love to run it like Mishima!)

I watch anime mostly for the comedy, and it seems like more of the old ones have the silly, slapsticky, unpredictably zany sort of humor I enjoy most.

Yeah, I actually thought about Nuku Nuku too. Also, I suggest the Battle Angle Alita anime, though the manga is WAY better IMO. Is Dragon Half really that old? Either way, it's absolutely hilarious. A must watch.

1993. Depends on how you measure age, i guess. At any rate, it's out of print on DVD in the US, though it comes up on Ebay with some regularity. Weird, looks like Tsukikage Ran is just 2000. It feels older, maybe because it uses cels. (I own a couple from the show.)

Hint on the posted picture: it is one of the Slayers group of anime (though not Slayers itself) and is only four episodes long, and another old comedy well worth seeing, especially if you like fantasy genre stuff.

No. like I said, it's not actually Slayers, it's a sort of cousin...one of the animes that everyone complains is too similar to Slayers (possible from the same creators, but I don't know.)
