Okay this is a story for the record books folks, an iPhone 4 has survived a 13,500 ft drop to the earth.
Surprisingly the iPhone survived the fall with only external damage, here is the story:

We've all heard stories of people dropping and shattering their iDevices - whether it's on the ground, in the toilet, on the table, etc. Occurrences of this nature come as no surprise to iDevice users as you're always bound to know someone who has. But do many people know of or have seen an iPhone 4 that has survived a deathly fall? That would be impressive to say the least.

CNN reports that a skydiver's recent dive could have been the end to his iPhone 4 - but surprisingly enough, it overcame "great heights." Jarrod McKinney, a 37 year old from Minnesota, submitted a report to iReport of CNN saying that his iPhone 4 survived a drop of 13,500 ft. after he accidentally dropped it. His unzipped pocket of his skydiving gear was a mistake that would send his iPhone 4 diving to the earth - with no parachute. Expecting to never find it again, McKinney was surprised that he was able to track his device using a GPS application. McKinney found his device sitting on a two-story building near where he landed with his parachute shortly after. Just as a joke, he decided to try to call someone from his shattered phone - and it worked! Even though the phone's screen was entirely shattered, he had no problem using cellular data service for phone calls and the like.

Im really not a fan of any of apples stuff. gamer at heart, and all I need for a phone is good coverage, internet access and a QWERTY keyboard. so while Im impressed with the survivability of an iphone, the vulnerability of the glass is pathetic.

The iPhone 4 doesn't suck. Nither do many other popular phones and devices people hate. It's been well renowned since the first one came out and we all know if somethings so mainstream for this long then it is for a reason. Because its good. Well marketed things do sell well (Duke Nukem) at first but once the words out that its literally crap then a product stops selling as good. Soooo...iPhones rule as much as the next type of smartphone.

phones dont really "suck" anymore period unless they are horrible at picking up the signal. what really does suck, are the networks, they are terrible. txting prices and internet prices are rediculous. and now with the At&Tmobile merger, its even worse, with big companies running the show and killing us for it with insane pricing

I report the news ( a day late) I don't think anyone here including myself are trying to convert people. Just figured it was a pretty cool story since I didn't think anything could fall that far while staying in once piece and continue to work.

Amy Winehouse (singer and song writer) died on 23 July 2011 in, as yet, unexplained circumstances. It is believed it was from a drug overdose.


A press release from the Metropolitan Police, which doesn't specifically name Winehouse, says:

"Police were called by London Ambulance Service to an address in Camden Square NW1 shortly before 16.05hrs today, Saturday 23 July, following reports of a woman found deceased.

On arrival officers found the body of a 27-year-old female who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Enquiries continue into the circumstances of the death. At this early stage it is being treated as unexplained."

Last month, Winehouse canceled her European tour after a performance in Serbia where she seemed completely out of it.
