nice work on the intro to AMV Hell 3, Chris. Did you use any reactor simulations on the car, cause it looks pretty realistic. I'd love to get into something like that for AMV hell. Ever since I made a Zaku II dance to Saturday Night Fever, I hoped it would introduce 3D as a source of content for AMVs. If there are any more requests for 3D animations, I'm all up for it. What do you all think?

Thanks man!
Actually, all the stuff for Amv Hell 3 was animated by hand. I did put a noise controller on the car rig so it'd jitter like that, so I wouldn't have to keyframe every little bump, but the breakthrough sequence was animated by hand. (and to me it still looks a bit rough :| )
I'm glad to hear someone is interested in 3d in AMV's and 3d anime in general...I always like videos that bring something new to the table, something we haven't seen in the original source footage. I'm working on a couple of projects now that do just that.
I *might* be speaking a bit on this at AWA this year at the panel at 9pm on Saturday...not even sure if it has a name yet, but they were wanting me to talk about a project I'm currently working on.
If so or if not, I'll be sure and post a link for you guys sometime.
See you after AWA. :)

The intro was pretty nice. If there's any future AMV Hell projects, I'd like to see more of what you can do.

Indeed...currently I have too many projects, which means that I'm going to have to devote my time to one of them to get it done, and it's a 5-7 minute animated short. I'll be posting a worklog over on CGTalk soon after I get back from AWA, so I'll post the link here when I start a thread there. It's not amv related, it's more of my professional quality work.
I DO however, have 2 amv projects that use 3d, and one is rather ambitious. I have another that I've already started that I'll probably put on the backburner for the time being to work on the rather ambitious one. It uses Kanon, so I'm going to wait for the new series to come out to use footage from it instead of the old Kanon (for the video parts of the amv). In the time from now until the new Kanon is all the way out, I'll be working on other projects, but as I said, I'll post a worklog link sometime for you guys to see. Oh, and I'm also doing a character for one of Koopiskeva's new vids. ( :| )
Thanks for the interest! I'm looking forward to seeing what the rest of the community thinks/will produce after we get some more 3d into this stuff :)

Awesome!!! I hope that 3D animation will make its way into the AMV community more often because I love being in control of the characters and stuff. BTW Chris, if you ever wish to see my 40,000+ poly Leifang model from DOA, I have pictures and one rigged for Poser. I don't know if I should consider selling it as a Poser model though. I also have some cool animations including a test with a placeholder biped getting into a Bubblegum Crisis hardsuit, and a few 3D models I got printed in our rapid-prototyping machine at the CAD department.

Well, to everyone who attended AWA, sorry, but I missed my panel like a noob. I was trying to get my images to show figured out, and the whole time I thought it was one panel, when in reality it was a different one that was earlier. At any rate, I apologize to anyone who missed it, and to make it up to you, here's some of the stuff I've been working on. Hopefully next year, I'll have a 3d vid in the competition for AWA.
I might add too, that this work with Yotsuba I've been doing is currently on hold. The video itself was not coming out how I liked it, so I've posponed it indefinately to work on another 3d project. (that's the thing about this stuff, sometimes you learn from your mistakes and just decide starting over would be better.)
So, eventually you can expect a 3D Yotsuba video, but it may be awhile till I mess with it. I'm currently working on a couple of other projects simultaneously.
At any rate:

There you go :3

Also, for everyone interested, some other people are working on 3D / effects projects and some of their work has been posted over at animemusicvideos.org.
