As weird as it is, i'm actually starting a thread. Title should be explanation enough, reminisce over sad deaths in anime. I'll start things off with:

Hughes in FMA (wtf, funeral and kid, cries)

oh, and Kimishima in s-cry-ed (that's just wrong!)

Im gonna say Elfen Lied Ep 13 when Lucy suposably dies at the end.
That whole 3rd disc made me all teary eyed.

For me it has to be the first (maybe only) time I&#39;ve cried while watching an anime....>_<
The anime is Air, episode 12 when Misuzu dies when she&#39;s walking towards her mother and falls into her arms.
Very emotional moment..

The saddest I think was when Chiyo-chan finally succumbed to her Growth Hormone Deficiency Disorder in the concluding Azumanga Daioh movie, with all of her high-school friends around her bed sobbing as she passed away.

It was very touching, but obviously fans of the series didn&#39;t like it, as the theatrical release was canceled immediately after the initial premier and it was never mentioned again by the production company.

The whole last episode of Cowboy Bebop was just heart-wrenching. That&#39;s about all I can come up with.

i would have appreciated a warning about that cause im on the english version and it&#39;s not there yet,also the last episode of cowboy bebop was very sad,and even though its not exactly relevant but spirited away was sad for me for some reason.

How about when Roy Fokker died in Robotech/Macross.

As a kid i remember being shocked taht they killed off a main character like that, and it had a major impact on the related characters.

it should be expected in death note, death is in the name, hell from the first episode the only character I expected to be alive in the end would be Ryuk cause he&#39;d have to do himself in.

For real. We watched that series on it&#39;s first run back in &#39;85 or whatever and we were TOTALLY shocked by that.

L in "Death Note", although the movie version is even more heartbreaking, if that&#39;s possible.

Definitely Hughes---I actually cried.

Ditto with Fulle from Scrapped Princess.

I had absolutely *no* affinity for Julia in Bebop--I was sad for Spike, not for her.

I suppose the saddest would be Satoko&#39;s death in the anime "Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni".

Because it is just a litle kid and she is there getting stabbed repeaditly on a cross. Untill she finally can withstand pain and realize that she was too much of a crybaby and deserved what was happening when she did not...


Also, i am not much of a Naruto fan but a sad death in there was Jiraya&#39;s... He was the only character I had actually grown fond of and right before I start to get hooked into the anime. He died x_x

Ayami from Kaze No Stigma, i know she was only a clone and she only had a few months to live, but sacrificing herself for the one she fell in love with and then dying in his arms well he professes his love to her, and she starts to say it back but her voice goes silent...

it was sad enough they modified the ending theme song for that episode.

I have to say Wolfwood from Trigun, he kicked ass during the series then near the end he has a very touching death.
