GOD **** ******* phone operators! I have been on the phone for THREE HOURS trying to get the medication my doctors label "do not stop taking" for the whole risk of DYING, and the ******* system as it is is giving me the run around. so, my random rant: so today i found i am apparently super sick and a horrible person to boot.

my new medicine is...strong. like, i pass out for two hours after taking it strong. and i have to inject wierd tubes of stuff i don't want to know what up into sensitive places, and squirt medicine into myself. i mean seriously, WTF?

and yes, i am a horrible jealous person. as i think everyoen here knows, i got the beaten with the short end of the stick more tiems than i can count. still, depsite the genral suckiness of my life, my siblings are doing amazingly well. my little brother is in international business, just got back from a trip to Japan, bought a new house, and is just graduating this year with a BA. my older sister is making a six digit salary as a corporate big shot, is happily married, has her art in the boston museum of fine art, takes 4 vacations a year to various parts of the world (she just came back from ireland) and is getting her MBA this semester.

now, little old me, i spent the majority of this year on food stamps anding minimum wage. I can't leave the country as they can, i was set to graduate this year with both of them but flunked out, and then theres the whole "i could die" thing.

that's the set up. so, that said, i politely asked that they not rub thier success in my face. no, i don't want to see my sister's pictrues from ireland, or my brother's photoes of china, and i dont' want to know how they are going to celebrate graduating. it hurts me to know i will never be able to do these things, and it fills me with a longing i can't ever satisfy. i just don't want ot remidned of my failures over and over, of having their good fortune shoved in my face.

For that, my mother yelled at me, told me i was was being petty and jealous, and i should be happy for them. it's not like i want them to suffer or not have nice things, i just dont' want to have to be reminded of it. am i wrong to be jealous? i have sold my body to make ends meat and i'm putting myself into financial ruin just to surive the next year, and my sister won't lend me a dime of her money to help me through. Am i really the one being petty here?

I don't know, but my family is all deeply dissapointed in me now. There's a surprise. not like they don't make it clear i'm the black sheep of the family already. Silly me, taking my own feeligns into account, right?

Fine, I'll say something about Vicky's long-ass rant. But I'm doing this as a favour. You owe me. :D

I'll start off by saying that the way your family responded to your request was absolutely callous, and insensitive...they should understand that you do have emotions, and your situation is rough as is (life-threateningly rough, at that), so you really shouldn't bare any further suffering if you can avoid it. If I were your parents, I'd be condemning the people who have amazing lives and don't even seem concerned about your feelings, not condemning you, who gets jack ****, turning around and catering to your oh, so fragile siblings. I don't even want to think about it, it's disgusting...

On the other hand, of course, I find jealousy to be morally wrong by principle. Not to say I don't understand why you would be jealous, but in any instance, you should try not to let something so biased cut so deep. I mean, there are always going to be people who have more than you, or are happier than you, but that's no reason to feel bad. Your own personal happiness should be just that: your own. If you let it depreciate in light of others' success...well, it can be avoided. :)

no your not petty, possibly a little jealous, but that's understandable considering the vast amount of factors involved.

things have been bad for you, and the fact that "complete" strangers on the internet seem to care and understand more then family is a little disheartening.

all i can really do is wish you the best and hopefully the holiday season will pass quickly so the family gatherings can come to an end and the causes of the grievances can wander away again.

thank you both for the kind words. i was feeling pretty low when i wrote that ( if it wasn't obvious) and i was questioning whether or not i was being overly petty. like i said, it's not like i dont' want my family to do well or anything, i just hate how they make everything into a competition by showering off thier accomplishments, and then asking me what i've done lately.

i realize that i am jealous, and i'm not ashamed of that. my family is wealthy and talented. hell, we're like, second/third cousins of THE Kennedy family and half my family goes to Ivy league schools and what not. Have i ever mentioned I've met President Clinton and Hillary? we're talking big shots here. i'm the black sheep who fell through the cracks. that's my lot in life. i may not like it, but i can accept it most days. it only really hurts when my short comings are thrown in my face, you know? and that's essentially what i was asking, to have a Christmas where i wasn't mocked for not having the highest IQ, for not making tons of money.

Really don't play many video games. I kick serious ass at GH/RB, singing included, drum skills are meh, but other than that I haven't dedicated myself to a game in years. If I had a better PC I might, but it's a long shot, I tend to find things like writing, posting on internets, ambling around town, going shopping, all that to be more my thing. After Christmas I'm buying a nice high-end laptop, so we'll see if that changes.

The American system is actually kind of weird. It goes from a 1.0 to a 4.0. 1.0 would be an F. 1.5 would be a D. 2.0 would be a C. 2.5 would be a C+. 3.0 would be a B. 3.5 would be a B+, and 4.0 would be an A. That's more used in colleges, though. In 6th through 12th, they usually use number grades at report card time and letter grades at progress report time.

so basically i passed and that's what matters, also you need a minimum of 2.0 t be able to transfer credits from college to college, so i did much better in math this time then last time.

overall i'm happy, i passed, i was worried i was gonna get lower grades in the math and art history... i'm a wee bit lazy... but i did good.

Right now I have over 80% in two classes, and roughly 50% in the other two, averaged out. Fortunately, here, 50% constitutes a pass. ;D I'm surprised I have even that in Kinesiology, I gave up participating in, attending regularly or trying to get a good mark in that class ages ago. I still take notes and all, because I like learning about it, but have handed in very few assignments. Must be because I do so well on tests...

Advanced Functions makes me sad, because I was either sick or had to attend a funeral for the first few days of a number of units, therefore had trouble catching up, and didn't do my homework, not at all helping the situation.

hm, dante's inferno...good read. i did my college englishs honors thesis on that one, comparing how some of the the sins of that book would condemn the entire world to hell, pondering if this made them outdated. it was a good read if i do say so myself.

well, i'm a english major who gets literally trned on by books, so i say HELL YES.


it's an old book, so the syntax is a bit old and out dated, but not impossible to read (easier than shakespeare, im my opinion). of course, i can read middle english and some olde english as i took classes in that.


the short version: Dante and his guide go through the many layers of hell, witnessing the damned souls. Virgil (his guide) explains the various punishements, and what sins bring each of the different punishments. Dante speaks with many of the lost souls, revealing much of human nature, sin, and punishment. it's deep, yo.

i loved it, but to each their own :)

I've organized and performed in some theatre productions in that theme, Seven Deadly Sins and all. It was a good time, I thought it was very interesting, and discussing in class about it (Vicky's thesis topic was the subject at some points too) was a great time. Can't wait until Musical Theatre next semester... ;D

Well. On this topic, if you want to avoid old syntax (and want something that's fun to read to boot), DON'T read the John Ciardi translation (the most common one). Get the translation by Robert Pinsky. He's a great current poet (U.S. Poet Laureate a few years ago) and his translation is influenced by his style. This is a good thing: the Inferno's original Terza Rima style is designed to have...

as good books go if you like scifi and star wars try The Approaching Storm by Alan Dean Foster Its the story right before Episode 2 and the detail is really good. my fav of the series is the X-Wing Rogue squadron books I'll read most anything but one thing I can't read is any of the lord of the rings books I tryed to but those things are horse tranquillizers I couldn't get past chapter 2 without falling asleep! hahaha :D
